In the border with Spain, the land of Malcata have horizons, smoothly, without any accident course to break him the way. In most parts dark or in depressions deeper arise bosquetes of oak and flowering broom, arbutus and heather.

Land of Mediterranean scrub, Malcata is also land of lynx, the most endangered mammal in our territory. Species in danger of extinction according to the Red Book of Portugal, Spain and the IUCN; species strictly protected by the Bern Convention; kind of community interest that requires the designation of special areas of conservation demanding a strict protection under the EU Habitats Directive European; species whose trade is subject to strict regulation by the Cites Convention ... Perhaps, well hidden among the foliage, the lynx shy to look up making us even doubting their own presence. 

However, enormous efforts are being made to ensure its protection.
